Furg Citadel
Furg Castle is an 18th-century citadel in Darmian region of South Khorasan It’s also known as Mirza Rafi Khan Castle after it’s the founder.
The caste is located on the north side Furg Village at an altitude of 1840 meters on the edge of the heights of Darmian Valley leading to Asadiyeh plain. It has a good strategic location, having a dominant view of the entire village, farms and roads around its eastern region. The castle covers about 9200 square meters. The main entrance of the castle is located within the eastern walls, which is also the lowest point of the castle. From east to west, three sections are recognizable in the castle.
The first section on the east includes a barn, living place of the servants, place of keeping cattle and dock warehouse. The second section, which is in the centre of the castle, is located on a higher altitude than the first part and has been constructed at a distance of 50 meters from the place of food and military supplies and was occupied by the troops, and the third section, built in the highest part of the castle on two floors overlooking the entire village and the roads the area, inhabited by the commander.
