History
Stone and ceramic items found in archaeological mounds of this province show a 9-thousand-year history. Since then, this region has been habitat to different ethnic groups. People of this province speak in Bakhtiari, Farsi and Turkish. Most of the people of the province are members of Bakhtiari nomads.
Geography
Isfahan, Khuzestan, Kohgiluyeh & Boyerahmad and Lorestan are neighbours of this province. This province is called “the roof of Iran” because the average altitude of its towns is 2153m above sea level.
Charmahal & Bakhtiari province lies over Zagros Mountains and contains Mount Zardkuh. Karun and Zayandehrud rivers origin in this province.
Climate
The province’s weather is generally cold with snow-covered elevations. Temperatures can fall to -34 degrees Celcius.
